The IT Factor:

An undefinable quality, but people who have it share one important character trait: Confidence!

THE IT FACTOR is a skills-building after-school program for high-achieving students in grades 7-10.

Now located in Jerusalem and Modi’in, The IT Factor was the brainchild of Bar Ilan University alumnae, Isabel Berger z”l and Timna Hurwich, who integrated decades of experience and innovative techniques with their love of teaching.

While drawing upon and elevating existing language and learning competencies – including conversation, comprehension, reading and writing – the program is designed to develop and challenge our students’ cognitive skills as they engage in various situations, both academic and social, and debate familiar and complex topics.

The IT Factor curriculum, beginning in the 7th grade, takes an inquiry-based approach to learning and thinking. Lessons are conducted exclusively in English, and language learning is largely a corollary of usage rather than dedicated instruction. The student-centered, interdisciplinary curriculum develops oral and written skills through self-directed tasks, guided learning activities and reflection.

When all is said and done, our objective is not merely to prepare students for the Bagrut but to furnish them with critical and creative skills that will serve them well after high school in their academic and professional pursuits.

BE-TWEENS
Advanced English language proficiency for 7th- and 8th-grade “tweens”
Allowing for the unique mindset of preteen students, this program creatively engages them in the pedagogical process through project-based learning (PBL), Philosophy for Children (P4C), collaborative inquiry and more. Our goal: make learning fun before it becomes difficult. The cognitive skills students acquire and assimilate at this early stage will stimulate greater intellectual agency as they construct knowledge and apply what they have learned to multiple disciplines and contexts.
